The first Bush Stadium seats have been installed at the corner of Alabama and Vermont Streets. The official unveiling was took place at 10:00, and I was fortunate enough to be invited to attend the event. I chatted with Michael and Jessica Bricker from People for Urban Progress, as well as Bryan Luellen, Annette Darrow, Jessica Mitchell’, and Samantha Cross from IndyGo in the hopes of finding out some more information about the project. IndyGo and PUP repurpose stadium seats for transit stops

IndyGo and the People for Urban Progress (PUP) have developed a unique partnership to enhance some transit stops throughout Indianapolis – known as PUPstops. With the support of DevelopIndy’s 16 Tech redevelopment project and the City of Indianapolis, PUP has access to the existing Bush Stadium seats and is refurbishing the seats to be repurposed as street furniture and souvenirs. Michael Bricker with People for Urban Progress (PUP) says many of the old stadium seats will be taken out, refurbished and turned into seats at various IndyGo bus stops. Bricker says the idea came from two members of company named Ecolaborative and an intern who was working with IndyGo on bus stop amenities. More »

Seats from the old Bush Stadium on West 16th Street, where the Indianapolis Indians played for decades until moving Downtown to Victory Field, are being refurbished and used as bus stop seating.
